THoD Newsdesk, New Delhi: The Ministry of Tourism is chalking out a list of promotional activities to assist the tourism industry in gaining back its foothold, primarily in the domestic market. In a meeting, Ms. Rupinder Brar, Additional Director General, Ministry of Tourism, was noted to be optimistic about the upcoming campaigns and its results.
She was quoted saying, “We are planning to bring some promotional material at the key airports. We’ve had extensive discussions with the airport’s authority of India and will also be entering into discussions with the private concessionaires at some of the airports to see how the message of Dekho Apna Desh and all the different products of our incredible India can be showcased to the domestic travellers. In some of the places, the billboards have already started.” Brar also mentioned that they have displayed their products in Calcutta and the team is working closely with tour operators. The brochures pertaining to this plan have started coming out and videos have already been recorded from the different regional offices.
As per Brar, the focus is lying on southeast Asia, where they are tapping on some newer markets along with working on the diaspora because evidently, there’s a lot of interest amidst the population, to travel back home.
She was quoted saying, “Social media, of course, is being used in a big way and that’s I think one area where we are getting a lot of response; also a lot of user-generated content and interestingly a lot of content is coming from new locations and people are actually travelling to these new cases. I think that is one very encouraging trend.”
