Countries have been lifting off their quarantine rules and have started to create travel bubbles with neighboring countries to make traveling easier. Avid travelers can breathe a sigh of relief as now they do not have to spend the entire year locked in the four walls of their homes.
But since the pandemic has not completely been eradicated, there are always some types of risks involved. The leaders of the tourism sectors have implemented some risk-mitigating strategies and that now the sector has become more advanced, it is safe for travelers to plan their next escapade.
But let’s take a look at what the new normal would look like
1. Go Local
It should have been quite evident that with the deadly virus still around the corner, international travel will take a back seat at least till the end of this year. This is mainly because many developing countries and some developed countries as well have been failing to contain the pandemic and flatten the curve.
The new mutant variants of the virus are also making it hard for governments to devise strategies that could assure the safety of their citizens. This means that they will not allow a sudden entry that might make the present condition a lot worse.
You might be able to travel to a neighboring country under certain conditions, but you will most likely be restricted to domestic travel for the most part. This would help in popularizing local stays and hotel chains as well.
2. Hotel stays have changed
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected almost every industry and the hospitality sector has been amongst the worst-hit ones. In order to cope with the changing times, hotel stays had to change dramatically in a short span of time.
While some of the practices will prevail in 2021 and beyond as well, hotels have had to adopt design changes along with digital technologies and solutions to facilitate social distancing, elevate property-wide hygiene, and ensure the safety of their guests.
In 2021 and for years to come, contactless technologies have become the new norm in the industry as this is the only way to contain the spread of the infection and also ensure the safety of the guests.
3. Personal vehicle travel will become prevalent
Until governments across the globe are successful in flattening the curve and stopping the spread, air travel is likely to be diminished or be strictly controlled. But luckily, this does not mean that people cannot plan their private escapades, as car travel and road trips are getting popular amongst people in these times.
This also means that now people will have a more personalized journey as they would have their own vehicles to make the trips more enjoyable.
People have started to elevate the aesthetics of their cars and entertainment systems to make road trips more comfortable and engaging for the family. This makes their vehicle quite suitable for outdoors and camping, away from human contact.
