About the hotel
The Peninsula Istanbul stands on the Bosphorus waterfront in Karaköy, within the Galataport development. The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, parent of The Peninsula Hotels, describes it as four buildings, three of them restored historic structures, and says guests can arrive by land or by sea. Trade reports published before the opening dated the three protected buildings to the early 1900s and gave an opening date of February 2023.
Those reports put the hotel at 177 rooms and suites, including a 510 sq m Peninsula Suite with a rooftop pool. Facilities listed were a 1,675 sq m spa and wellness centre with hammams, eight treatment rooms and a 25 m indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a rooftop restaurant and bar, The Lobby restaurant with 260 seats, and a ballroom seating 820 for a banquet when combined with its terrace.
