About the hotel
The Peninsula Hong Kong is on Salisbury Road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, facing Victoria Harbour. The official site says it opened in 1928, and Wikipedia gives the date as 11 December 1928. It is the original hotel of The Peninsula Hotels, the brand of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited (HSH), which describes itself as an owner-operator and lists the hotel as wholly owned.
According to Wikipedia, a 30-storey tower was added in 1994, bringing the room count to 300 and adding office space, shops and a rooftop helipad. HSH gives the current total as 300 guestrooms and suites. Its restaurants and bars include Gaddi’s, Felix, Spring Moon, Chesa and The Bar. The building also contains The Peninsula Spa, opened in 2006, and The Peninsula Arcade, which HSH says houses about 80 brands and local designers.
