About the hotel
Sofitel Legend Casco Viejo occupies the former Club Union, a 20th-century private social club on the Pacific waterfront of Casco Viejo, the historic district of Panama City and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The project combined the restored colonial facade with new construction. Trade press reported that Panamanian architect Manuel Choy of Architect S.A. led the work with Accor’s regional design and technical services team.
Accor’s opening press release gave 1 January 2023 as the hotel’s debut. It has 159 rooms, including 35 suites, and five food and drink outlets: the Mediterranean brasserie Caleta, the rooftop bar Ammi, Mayda Lobby Bar & Plaza, Vera Café and a pool bar. Facilities include a Sofitel Spa with KOS Paris, an oceanfront pool, a 24-hour fitness studio and 9,880 sq ft of indoor and outdoor function space. The owner is not named in the sources read.
