About the hotel
Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, is at Salita Baratta 16 on the hillside above Portofino in Liguria. Belmond states that the building began as a Benedictine monastery, dated by LVMH to the 16th century, and that Baron Baratta acquired it in the 19th century and converted it into his family’s summer home. It is operated by Belmond, which is part of LVMH.
The hotel reopened for the 2025 season after a multi-year renovation by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. Belmond gives 53 rooms and suites, made up of 48 rooms and suites and five signature suites, plus Villa Beatrice, a separate private villa. Dining comprises La Terrazza, Splendido Grill and the Baratta Sedici bar; the restaurants are led by chef Corrado Corti. The Dior Spa Splendido has four treatment cabins. There is also a heated outdoor pool, a tennis court and a gym.
