About the hotel
Casa Maria Luigia is a guest house in an 18th-century property at Stradello Bonaghino 56 in San Damaso, in the countryside outside Modena. It was acquired by the chef Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore, whose restaurant Osteria Francescana opened in Modena in 1995 and holds three Michelin stars, and it is run by them as an independent, owner-operated house.
The official site lists seven accommodation types, from the 30 sq m ML Festina Lente Room to the Luigina Cottage, which has three ensuite bedrooms and a private pool. Dining on the estate comprises Francescana at Maria Luigia, Al Gatto Verde and Casa Lu, and breakfast is served to all guests. Facilities include a summer pool, a tennis court, a gym with Technogym equipment, the Acetaia Maria Luigia, and the owners’ collections of contemporary art, vinyl records, cars and motorcycles. Guests must be 15 or older.
