About the hotel

Forestis stands at 1,800 m at Palmschoß on the Plose, above Brixen (Bressanone) in South Tyrol, beside the Puez-Geisler Nature Park and facing the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to the hotel’s press kit, the site was chosen in 1912 by the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy for a sanatorium, and the wood-and-stone house was used by clergy for recreation until the 1950s. Alois Hinteregger found the building in 2000 and the family opened it as a hotel in 2010. It reopened as Forestis on 20 July 2020. The owners and hosts are Teresa and Stefan Hinteregger.

The hotel has 62 suites: 20 in the historic building, 40 in three towers designed by architect Armin Sader, and two penthouses. The Forestis Villa, restored in 2022, is let separately for up to ten guests. The spa covers about 2,000 sq m with connected indoor and outdoor pools. Dining includes the main restaurant, a garden restaurant, a bar and the cave restaurant Yera.
