THoD Newsdesk, Singapore: In an effort to revive travel demands on the backdrop this pandemic, Singapore Airlines Ltd. has made arrangements for pre-departure coronavirus tests for passengers via its booking portals.
Passengers flying from Singapore as well as travellers who are on the way to the country from Jakarta and Medan in Indonesia, can undertake the mandatory RT-PCR test at the clinic and get results within 36 hours. If negative, the certificate can be used for travel purposes, as per the statement of Collinson Group, which is currently working with Singapore Airlines on this program.
The trial service commenced on Tuesday and will probably be running until the mid of March. Collinson Group further added that it has performed more than 90,000 Covid-19 tests for travellers, in collaboration with the airlines and several UK airports, including London Heathrow.
Todd Handcock, the President of Collinson Asia Pacific, said in the statement, “Our partnership with Singapore Airlines helps to enable the safe reopening of key routes for travellers and is another step forward in our aim to achieve the long-term, safe return of global travel. To restore confidence in travel, the implementation of safe and robust testing protocols remains key.”
Much like others in the travel industry, Singapore Airlines has also been lashed by the pandemic and as per reports, its passenger numbers slumped 82% in 2020.
