About the hotel
Hotel Bel-Air is at 701 Stone Canyon Road in Los Angeles, set in twelve acres of gardens. According to Wikipedia, the property was built in 1922 by Alphonzo Bell as offices and stables and opened as a hotel in 1946 after Joseph Drown bought and converted it with architect Burton Schutt. The same source states that Dorchester Collection, owned by the Brunei Investment Agency, acquired the hotel in 2008.
Dorchester Collection reopened the hotel on 14 October 2011 after 24 months of refurbishment, with design by Alexandra Champalimaud and dining venues by Rockwell Group. The reopening release gave 103 guestrooms and suites. The hotel’s site lists The Restaurant at Hotel Bel-Air, Bar & Lounge, The Living Room and The Pâtisserie, along with a spa, a 24-hour gym and a pool reserved for hotel guests.
