About the hotel
The Ritz Paris occupies 15 place Vendôme in the first arrondissement. According to Wikipedia, it was opened on 1 June 1898 by the Swiss hotelier César Ritz with the chef Auguste Escoffier as junior partner, behind a façade designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1705 and in a structure adapted by the architect Charles Mewès. The same source records that Mohamed Al-Fayed bought the hotel in 1979 and that it closed on 1 August 2012 for renovation, reopening on 6 June 2016.
The hotel’s website states a total of 142 room keys, with suites named after past guests including Coco Chanel, Ernest Hemingway and F. Scott Fitzgerald. It contains the Espadon restaurant, the Ritz Bar, the Ritz Club & Spa, event and reception rooms, a gallery of boutiques and the École Ritz Escoffier cooking school.
