About the hotel
Hôtel du Couvent occupies a former convent at 1 rue Honoré Ugo in the old town of Nice. Yatzer reports that the convent was built in 1604 by the Order of Saint Clare and later housed the Order of the Visitation. The hotel opened in June 2024 after about ten years of work led by Valéry Grégo, founder of the Perseus group. Journal des Palaces lists it as part of The Luxury Collection. Studio Mumbai and Louis-Antoine Grégo of Studio Méditerranée were the architects and Festen designed the interiors.
There are 88 rooms and suites, including 18 suites, in the convent buildings and a new timber extension. The hotel has a restaurant, Le 1604, the Bistrot des Serruriers, a garden guinguette, a bar in the cloister and a bakery. It also has Roman-style thermal baths, a 20 m outdoor pool and terraced gardens of 2.5 acres.
