ThD Newsdesk, Brazil: In an effort to propel the urban air mobility ecosystem to newer heights, Embraer has pushed its plans to develop an eVTOL aircraft. Eve Urban Air Mobility Solutions (Eve) is a by-product of Embraer and is a new, independent company.
The company is curating a detailed portfolio of solutions, including the progression and certification of an electric vertical take-off and landing vehicle (eVTOL). This also includes associated comprehensive services and support network. They are also working towards the creation of urban air traffic management solutions.
Embraer confirmed that the new U.S.-based division is brainstorming on “a portfolio of solutions to enable the urban air mobility (UAM) market.” Further, they added that this includes an eVTOL, which has been in development for the past four years through its EmbraerX advanced technology unit.
Francisco Gomes Neto, the chief executive of Embraer, was quoted saying, “We value the vast potential of the urban air mobility market, as it represents a new business segment in which we foresee significant opportunities for Embraer. Innovation and diversification are key pillars of Embraer’s new strategic plan, which will increase revenue and improve profitability over the next few years.”
Gomes also mentioned, “Eve stands primed to create a new frontier in transportation with intelligent, environmentally friendly, autonomous-ready aircraft and the associated ubiquitous support and urban air traffic management solutions.”
André Stein, the former head of strategy for EmbraerX, has been appointed as the chief executive of Eve.
