THoD Newsdesk, Oman: In an effort to bolster the tourism of the country and shore up its struggling economy, Oman will now allow nationals of 103 counties to stay up to 10 days, sans an entry visa, as per reports received on Wednesday. However, visitors must have a confirmed hotel reservation, health insurance and a return ticket, Royal Oman Police took its Twitter account to announce this move.
“Nationals of 103 counties are exempted from entry visas into the Sultanate for a period of ten days,” it said.
Last week, Oman proclaimed that it would resume granting tourist visas to people visiting on trips arranged by hotels and travel companies, after they were halted due to the ongoing pandemic load. The Gulf region resumed international flights on October 1 but only citizens and people holding valid existing residency and work visas were allowed to cross the borders.
Oman, rated sub-investment grade by all major credit rating agencies, is in the face of a widening deficit and large debt maturities, in the coming few years, reportedly. The country has recently taken up the journey towards a new fiscal plan to steadily wean itself off its dependence on its heavy oil revenues.
