THoD Newsdesk, Saudi Arabia: In an effort to arrest the COVID-19 transmission rates in the region, on Tuesday, Saudi Arabia suspended entry from 20 countries, inclusive of a few neighbouring states and the United States.
This restriction also applies to Argentina, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Indonesia, Japan, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Turkey. In Europe, the ban includes Britain, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Sweden and Switzerland.
The interior ministry proclaimed that “temporary suspension” would be effective from 9 PM (1800 GMT) on Wednesday, as per the reports of Saudi Press Agency. Saudi citizens, as well as diplomats and health workers arriving from the prohibited countries, will be permitted to enter the kingdom “in accordance with the precautionary measures.”
