Ownership and business model
Four Seasons is privately held. In its January 2026 statement the company named Cascade Investment, L.L.C. as majority shareholder, with Kingdom Holding Company and founder and chairman Isadore Sharp, through Triples Holdings Limited, as the other shareholders. Its October 2022 announcement of Alejandro Reynal as chief executive gave the holdings as Cascade 71.25%, an affiliate of Kingdom Holding Company 23.75% and Triples Holdings Limited 5%. Cascade agreed in September 2021 to raise its stake from 47.5% by buying half of Kingdom Holding’s interest for USD 2.21 billion in cash, a deal that valued the company at USD 10 billion on an enterprise basis. Shareholders had taken the company private in 2007.
Four Seasons is a management company and does not rely on owning its hotels: it shifted from owner-operator to manager in the 1980s and describes hotel owners as essential partners. It operates everything under one brand. In January 2026 it reported 135 hotels and resorts in 47 countries, 61 residential properties in 20 countries and about 60 further projects in development, 65% of which include a residential component.
