THoD Newsdesk, New Delhi: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued a tender notice, pertaining to the selection of an agency for the training and assessment of Digital Mitra, under the banner of Food Safety Mitra Scheme. FSSAI has instructed the interested agencies to submit their bid by January 12, 2021, by 1 PM. A pre-bid meeting will also take place at FSSAI HQ on December 17. An Indian company can bid for the tender which should be in existence for at least 3 years, having a minimum turnover of Rs 1 crore and must have previous experience in similar government work.
Food Safety Mitra is an initiative by FSSAI, aimed at aiding the FBOs in complying with the requisites for licensing and registration, training and hygiene rating. The selected Food Safety Mitra will be an individual, professionally trained and certified by FSSAI, who will assist in compliances related to FSS Act, Rules & Regulations.
In a statement, an official with the FSSAI was quoted saying, “Through multi-layered ecosystem, responsive to the needs of FBOs, FSSAI aims to create a last-mile self-driven & self-employed compliance structure through the Food Safety Mitra Scheme which will complement the work of FSSAI and the State Food Authorities.” He further added that FSSAI is also looking forward to the training and assessing of approximately 10,000 candidates, who have been admitted under the Digital Mitra under Food Safety Mitra scheme.
The scheme is an effort at building entrepreneurial capacity, employment generation & holistic economic growth, bolstering the ease of doing business and lowering the cost of compliance and next door services. It also includes the vision of a layered ecosystem, which would be responsive to the needs of FBOs and coax multipliers for FSSAI initiatives.
According to the FSSAI, the selected agency shall perform all such other additional ancillary, incidental and auxiliary duties, services and operations as may be instructed by the apex body or an officer acting on its behalf, in accordance with terms and conditions of this contract, at no extra cost. Further, the agency shall conduct the online assessment of Digital Mitra through proctored mode.
